 Mock Drafts
anyone do any yet?
i did one here is the team i drafted in a 12-team roto league (i had last pick):
C A.J. Pierzynski (CWS - C) 1B Ryan Howard (Phi - 1B) 2B Ben Zobrist (TB - 2B,SS,OF) 3B Michael Young (Tex - 3B) SS Troy Tulowitzki (Col - SS) OF B.J. Upton (TB - OF) OF Manny Ramírez (LAD - OF) OF Josh Hamilton (Tex - OF) UTIL Alfonso Soriano (ChC - OF) UTIL Chris Davis (Tex - 1B,3B)
SP Justin Verlander (Det - SP) SP Jake Peavy (CWS - SP) RP Huston Street (Col - RP) RP Billy Wagner (Atl - RP) P Brandon Webb (Ari - SP) P Roy Oswalt (Hou - SP) P Stephen Strasburg (Was - SP) P Scott Kazmir (LAA - SP)
BN Rich Harden (Tex - SP) BN David Price (TB - SP) BN Brad Lidge (Phi - RP) BN Bobby Jenks (CWS - RP) BN Matt Capps (Was - RP)
not a bad team considering i totally didn't give a shit after the team before me took longoria in the first round and i ended up drafting howard-tulo-zobrist-upton in that order for the first 4 rounds which is god awful drafting, but most of the people were on autopick so there were too many good players available i didn't draft any bench players on offense because i don't care it's just a mock draft

 Re: Mock Drafts
what i did notice is that manny fell to me all the way in the 8th/9th round that could be a nice steal for some people assuming manny actually cares about playing anymore soriano was available in the 10th round... don't know how he will do but in the past he has had huge upside in fantasy and guys like brandon webb, roy oswalt, scott kazmir, rich harden, and david price were all ranked really low in yahoo's rankings there is always good pitching late in drafts anyways, thats never a position you should draft that early aside from 1 or maybe 2, at most, top knotch aces

 Re: Mock Drafts
i don't think i drafted a pitcher until the 5th or 6th round in that draft but guys like lincecum, grienke, and felix won't be around that late in the draft lucky for me i already have king felix as one of my keepers in my real league
i think i drafted my catcher in that mock draft with my last or 2nd to last pick hah, i hate catchers

 Re: Mock Drafts
i wish i knew that sandoval was going to play 3b but was listed as a catcher last year, anytime that happens thats HUGE
i think the only acceptable catchers to be taken early are probably mauer and victor martinez only other exceptions is when a player is listed as catcher but he will really play the field or has eligibility in the field, last year guys like that were sandoval, brandon inge, and victor martinez i think if you can get one of those dudes DEFINITELY do it, thats the only trick to drafting a catcher.... if he's not really a catcher lol
i always hate drafting catcher because they miss so many games, so more games should = more stats, otherwise i just look for a catcher that can hit maybe 20 hrs or hit for a .300 average, every other stats is pretty much worthless russell martin stealing bases is cool and all but you can't always count on that and it's not like he's going to steal 30 or more... maybe he's stolen in the 20s but realistically he's probably only good for 10-15 which isn't that big of a deal, not big enough to draft him early and miss out on a good position player or pitcher

 Re: Mock Drafts
did another mock draft... same thing 12-team roto, i had 7th pick:
14. C Jorge Posada (NYY - C) 3. 1B Kendry Morales (LAA - 1B) 4. 2B Brandon Phillips (Cin - 2B) 1. 3B Evan Longoria (TB - 3B) 2. SS Jimmy Rollins (Phi - SS) 5. OF Curtis Granderson (NYY - OF) 6. OF Manny Ramírez (LAD - OF) 9. OF Alfonso Soriano (ChC - OF) 12. UTIL Álex Ríos (CWS - OF) 13. UTIL Carlos Beltrán (NYM - OF)
17. BN Vladimir Guerrero (Tex - Util) 21. BN Hideki Matsui (LAA - Util) 23. BN Nick Johnson (NYY - 1B)
10. SP Jake Peavy (CWS - SP) 15. SP A.J. Burnett (NYY - SP) 7. RP Mariano Rivera (NYY - RP) 8. RP Joe Nathan (Min - RP) 11. P Francisco Rodríguez (NYM - RP) 16. P Stephen Strasburg (Was - SP) 18. P Scott Kazmir (LAA - SP) 19. P J.A. Happ (Phi - SP,RP)
20. BN Aroldis Chapman (Cin - SP) 22. BN Joba Chamberlain (NYY - SP)
check out those closers lol, fucking stacked my starting pitching is pretty weak in that draft probably because i draft a pitcher until the 10th round since i decided to draft good closers instead, plus all those starters are pretty sketchy right now, not sure what any of them are going to do this year and then i fucked myself by drafting vlad in the 17th round instead of just taking kazmir and then harden or bedard, when round 19 came around harden and bedard were gone so that was stupid of me to draft a bench player before a starter so i had to find other starters and i remembered chapman, i think he is going to start for the reds all year? anyways he was ranked like #600 so that could be a real nice sleeper in fantasy if he's legit
oh and i drafted nick johnson with my last pick lolz he's also ranked really really low that offense i drafted is pretty stacked though, pretty decent balance of power and speed, i drafted a bunch of guys that have both (brandon phillips, jimmy rollins, curtis granderson, soriano, rios, beltran) beltran was also ranked really low, same with rios

Beltran was a steal but I don't get getting Rollins so early.

King Felix, Greinke, Halladay, CC, Lee... someone of that ilk. Not only that, but the little punk is injured right now--he's been injured for almost a year now. He really screwed me last year... I took him with my first pick and he missed the vast majority of the season. Fuck that little shit.

 Re: Mock Drafts
who is injured that you took in the first round last year? rollins? anyways yeah in hindsight it might have been better to take an ace if i could have waited another round to pick up rollins or someone else
i gotta start thinking of some sleepers/steals to draft... right now off the top of my head i'm thinking of chapman and wade davis i hope my boy lidge falls really low in the draft i'm going to try and take him again, he was perfect for me in 08

Reyes. Fuckin' prick. Mets should've moved his ass when he had value. Now they're stuck and fucked with his injury-prone ass.
